At the present time several analytical and numerical approaches are available for analyzing the performances of materials used in noise and vibration control applications. All these methodologies require knowledge of a set of input parameters which, in the case of viscoelastic materials are generally expressed in terms of complex modulus and Poisson’s ratio. An overview of experimental determination of the mechanical properties of viscoelastic solids and porous media will be given.
