An interview with Jean Richardot, independent photographer (with R. Bouchet)

An "initiatory journey" in Argonne in 1994 is the cause of the photographic work done by Jean Richardot on environmental and artefactual traces of the First World War. In his approach he links to his own family history, the photographer often invests places away from the tourist and for which he feels a "fascination" and "irresistible attraction". This research is "the" conflict equipment vestige identified, is then isolated or incorporated into its scenic environment, with the goal set for evidence of an "emotional potential can leave a memorial footprint." But this emotional, accentuated depending on the case by the choice of color or black and white, enriched to a documentary vocation: the vestige is elected in his ability to witness the realities of life as fighter fire as the rest, changes its environment and its uses, and also of the fragility of the material and memorial marker that is on the eve of the Great War centenary celebrations.
